RED FIVE CHARITY EVENT MAKES RECORD DONATION TO SHARE, INC. FOOD BANK
Red Hand’s Helping annual food drive benefits more than 1,000 individuals throughout Northern Virginia

September 18, 2019 – Red Five, a private, McLean-based security and management consulting company, announced the impact of their company-wide food drive that resulted in a donation of more than 7,000 items to a local food bank. The event, hosted by the company’s charitable arm, Red Hand’s Helping, supports Share, Inc. a non-profit that provides emergency assistance to hundreds of families throughout four zip codes in and around McLean/Great Falls.

“At Red Five, community service is a company-wide effort and we are especially proud that our team of 50 employees can make such a significant impact on children, families and individuals right here in our neighborhood,” said Kris Coleman, Founder, President and CEO of Red Five. “We look forward to making a larger impact each year to ensure local charities like Share, Inc have the food and necessities to help those in need.”

This year, Red Hands Helping Annual Food Drive more than doubled their donations from last year. A 15-day effort helped restock the shelves of Share Inc. that often deplete during the summer months. Red Five’s donations included food and personal care items to help Share, Inc. serve more than 1,000 individuals across the Northern Virginia community.

“With one of the larger food drives we have received, all of us at Share, Inc. are deeply grateful by Red Five’s commitment to service for our neighbors in need,” said Don Frickel, President of Share, Inc. “Red Five’s generosity and community spirit has aided us in restocking our diminished storerooms with the essentials for the families and individuals in our community who need it most.”

Share Inc. is a local all-volunteer entity with no paid staff, no office and no paid fundraisers, supported by generous donations like that of Red Five’s. Share Inc. provides 350-400 families with essentials including emergency financial assistance, food and clothing and back-school- supplies. Additionally, the non-profit provides more than 700 bags of groceries to those in need every month.

As an extension of this work, Red Five executives will match the donations, and will provide these additional items to other local charities serving the Northern Virginia community.

Share Inc. is a non-profit that provides emergency assistance to the less fortunate in McLean and nearby areas of Northern Virginia.

Share, Inc. has been serving the area since 1969. The organization is an all-volunteer entity with no paid staff, no office, and no paid fundraisers, so nearly all donations are passed along to their clients. They provide assistance in areas such as distributing food, furniture, and clothing donations as well as providing financial assistance to families. Each month, Share distributes over 700 large bags of groceries to people in need.

This year, Red Hands Helping donated over 2,620 items, including hundreds of “most needed” items such as toothpaste, bags of rice, and canned fruit. In addition, Red Five executives have committed to match an additional 960 specialty items for a total of 3,580 items that will eventually be donated. Those added items will be given to several other charities in the Reston, Virginia, and Washington, DC, areas. Originally, the food drive was held near the end of each year, but changed to assist in months where donations are more scarce.

"Our annual food drive has become one of the highlights of our year. Employees really come together and push this over the top. And even though Red Five works around the globe, it’s nice to focus on those in need here at home," commented Kris Coleman, President/CEO of Red Five. "It’s a privilege to help.”

McLean, Va. (September 25, 2017) – Red Five, a private, McLean-based security and management consulting company, and its charitable arm, Red Hands Helping, has donated funds to two separate organizations for hurricane relief in Texas and Florida.

Red Hands Helping made contributions to Habitat for Humanity and the Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF) to assist those affected by the storms.

Habitat for Humanity has deployed to both regions to clean out homes damaged by the flood waters and high winds, and provide long-term housing repair and construction services to those in need. Habitat for Humanity is an international organization dedicated to providing decent and affordable housing to people in need. In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, Habitat for Humanity built more than 6,000 new homes and cleaned more than 2,500 homes.

The ARF is working with local animal shelters in Florida to evacuate cats and dogs; more than 250 pets have already been brought to safety by the organization as a result of Hurricane Irma. The ARF will continue to rescue pets, provide them with medical care, and shelter them until they are adopted. The ARF's evacuation efforts will also make space in local Florida animal shelters for pets that were displaced by the storm. The ARF is a non-profit organization founded to rescue dogs and cats from high-kill shelters and strengthen human-animal bonds. The organization also provides medical services to pets in need.

"Everyone across the country is affected by the catastrophic devastation wrought by the recent storms, and we have come together as a Company to aid those who have lost homes, businesses and so much more," commented Kris Coleman, President/CEO of Red Five. "I am continually inspired by our employees' kindness, compassion and willingness to help others in times of need.”
